Electronic cigarettes/vape pens are harmful to the lungs and heart. Emerging data suggests links to chronic lung disease and asthma, and associations between dual use of e-cigarettes and smoking with cardiovascular disease. Nicotine is also in the majority of pods, nicotine is an addictive chemical that is also in traditional cigarettes.
Youth are becoming increasingly addicted to e-cigarettes, which compromises their health. Youth are discouraged from vaping, and purchasing an e-cigarette, vape pen/juul under the age of 19 years old is illegal.
JUUL is now the most commonly sold e-cigarette in the US.
• JUUL is an e-cigarette shaped like a USB flash drive and is easy
to conceal.
• JUUL uses liquid nicotine refills called “pods,” which contain at
least as much nicotine as a pack of cigarettes and are available
in flavors that appeal to youth.
• JUUL devices are being used by youth in schools, including
inside bathrooms and classrooms.
