STRESS & COPING
Grounding in 60 Seconds
When your thoughts feel fast, scattered, or overwhelming, grounding can help bring your attention back to the present moment.
Take one minute
You do not need to make the stress disappear. The goal is simply to notice where you are, what is around you, and what your body is experiencing right now.
Look
Notice something you can see. Look at its color, shape, texture, or details.
Listen
Notice one sound around you. It might be a voice, a fan, traffic, music, birds, or simply the quiet.
Feel
Notice where your body is supported. Feel your feet on the floor, your back against the chair, or your hands resting in your lap.
Breathe
Take one slow breath in and one slow breath out. Let the exhale be easy and unforced.
Name where you are
Silently remind yourself: “I am here. This is where I am right now.”
Remember:
Grounding is not about pretending everything is fine. It is a way to give your mind a brief anchor when things feel like too much.
